To assist players in Cube World, all characters share adventuring abilities.
These are different from the class-specific skills, which are listed in the Class page.
The Alpha Version and Steam Version acquire abilities differently.
In both versions, you can Dodge with middle click.
- In the Steam Version, special is cast with [R] automatically with a cooldown of 40 seconds.
- In the Alpha Version, a special must be unlocked with Skill Points.
The Alpha Version abilities are as follows:

- Alpha Version requires Special items like the Hang Glider and Boat to be equipped in the special slot and the player can activate what item is in the special slot with [G].
- In the Alpha Version, when pets are thirsty they will dismount the player.

- In the Steam Version, abilities are paired with Key Items.
- In the Steam Version, pet strengths are based upon the players gear rating.
Climbing Differences[ | ]
The climbing ability works differently between versions and uses different keys.
- Climbing in Alpha is done with Left CTRL and the player will fall off when the key isn't held.
- Climbing on Steam is done with [E] and the player will stay attached to the wall even if the key isn't held.
- Players on steam can climb forever without the cost of stamina once they obtain Climbing Spikes.
Pet Hydration[ | ]
The pet's water meter is displayed under it's HP and XP bar.
To give water to a pet, stand in water with it and it will regain hydration.
- Pet Hydration and Pet XP was removed in the Steam Version.

- In 2019 when the Steam Version was released, abilities were converted to require Artifacts.
- In the Steam Version, players can /pet, /wave, /sit and /dance.
